Manufacturing Process

European Technology

To ensure cargo security and safety, each component of every tiedown assembly must meet or exceed strict standards for strength, durability and consistency. The single most critical component in tiedowns is the webbing itself. It is the webbing that essentially holds the tiedown assembly together, and therefore holds the cargo in place.  AEROFAST controls this process by weaving its own webbing in New Zealand using the world’s best European Looms from Switzerland and Germany.

Materials Used

Components: Only the best raw materials available are used to produce AEROFAST tiedowns.  Our steel components are sourced from carefully selected factories in New Zealand, Taiwan and China.

Yarn: AEROFAST uses High Tenacity UV protected yarn imported directly from Spain from one of the top suppliers of yarn in the world. This yarn is then woven by AEROFAST in New Zealand to exacting standards.

High Tenacity Polyester is imported from a state-of-the-art factory in Asia.

We have long-term relationships with all of our suppliers and make regular factory visits to ensure that all quality control measures are being followed.

Polypropylene Performance Advantages

Polypropylene has inherent performance advantages over other yarns (eg, polyester and nylon) in many tiedown applications. For this reason AEROFAST, predominantly uses the highest quality Spanish made High Tenacity Polypropylene yarn for its retail and specialist range of tiedowns.

The most notable performance benefits of Polypropylene are:

Hydrophobicity (resistance to most liquids)

  • Polypropylene is the most water resistant natural or synthetic fibre available.
  • Unlike other yarns, Polypropylene will not lose any strength when wet.
  • Polypropylene will tend to repel most stains and dirt.

UV Resistance

  • All AEROFAST Polypropylene is UV Stabilised for protection against ultra violet rays in sunlight.  This is critical for the harsh UV environments in Australia and New Zealand.

The combination of these two features ensures longer life.

Environmental Protection

Whilst maximum focus is on the manufacture of superior tiedowns it is not only their performance that AEROFAST considers.  There is a real interest in environmental issues and any contribution that can be made to this area.  The environmental benefits of Polypropylene yarns are another advantage in their use.

Polypropylene is 100% recyclable

  • The production of Polypropylene requires less than half the natural resources (tons of oil) than are used to produce other yarns.
  • This results in a more than 50% reduction in any associated pollution.
  • After recycling Polypropylene can be incinerated to produce heat or energy.

Human Health Protection

  • AEROFAST uses Polypropylene with the Oeko-tex label guaranteeing against the presence of any toxic elements in the yarn.
  • It achieves a ‘Class 1 product for babies’ level of safety.
